Our Mission |
|
Our mission is to live the good news of Jesus Christ
by welcoming all people, growing spiritually, helping
people in need, creating community and celebrating
life! |
|
Our Beliefs |
|
We believe in the holy Trinity: Creator,
resurrected Christ and Holy Spirit. We believe that each person is unique
and valuable.
We believe that each person is on
a spiritual journey and that each of us is at a
different stage in that journey.
We believe that God embraces all
persons equally.
We strive to be an honest representation
of the radical inclusion of the New Testament.
We believe that taking the Bible
seriously means it cannot always be taken literally.
We believe that God calls us to
be servants in the service to others. |
|
Communion |
|
Holy Communion is offered the first
Sunday of each month and other special occasions.
We welcome all people, regardless of your religious
affiliation, to join us at Christ's table. |
|
Baptism |
|
In the United Church of Christ, people
are baptized either as children or adults. Baptism
with water and the Holy Spirit is the mark of their
acceptance into the care of Christ's church, the sign
and seal of their participation in God's forgiveness,
and the beginning of their new growth into full Christian
life and faith. |
|
Faith In Action |
|
We support Paducah Cooperative Ministry in providing food
and shelter for the homeless. We work with the Community
Kitchen to provide free meals to hungry people. We support
Heifer International which
provides livestock to poor families all over the
world to help them feed and support themselves. |
|
Our Denomination |
|
United Church of Christ is a socially
active, progressive, ecumenically minded mainline
Christian denomination. We are welcoming, open and
inclusive. With a rich history tying faith to social
justice, the UCC continues to challenge its members
to explore cutting edge theology and service to the
world. For more information about UCC, visit our denominational
website at www.ucc.org
and www.stillspeaking.com. |
|
Our Congregation |
|
We are not concerned with what you
wear, and hope that you will feel free to ask questions
and get honest answers. You do not have to pretend
to understand and believe things that you do not.
No matter who you are, or where you are on life's
journey, you will find a welcoming spiritual home
here.
There is no pressure to join - ever.
If you are interested in becoming a member of our
church, please see Rev. Karen Winkel or call the
church at 442-3722.
